This is what happens when you spend too much time at Starbucks… You get songs stuck in your head.
The original idea started out as a random doodle while chatting with my friends over the weekend. A little time in Illustrator to clean it up, and re-tool some of the letters, and some fun with Photoshop, and here it is; the final poster.
I have a request to design wedding invitations and ephemera for a wonderful couple getting married at a lovely mansion in Connecticut this summer. Initially, I was sketching out some more Art Deco styles, but I’ve come to find out that the bride is inspired by Sabrina (Audrey Hepburn, not the Teenage Witch) so I’m trying some floral ideas inspired by the iconic dress worn by Audrey.

I got some new art supplies, and a book of Illuminated Letters, so I thought I would try my own version. Here’s a letter I’ve been working on.
The letter D, with a dragon, since the new year is just around the corner, and this year is the Year of the Dragon.
Which of course, have nothing to do with any of the work I intended to get done this weekend. But that just seems to be how things are going lately.
Trying to remember when it stopped being theory and turned into real life, because theory was a whole lot easier.
1. I’m pretty sure I bleach in the sun, like those stuffed animals left in the back of car windows.
2. I am NOT a seamstress. More specifically, tutus are far more difficult to create than I could have imagined.
3. My cell phone, and really most other electronics, are the bane of my existence and generally stop working in my presence.
