Red, FTW!

So I’m taking Intro to Digital Photography this semester! (Yay!) We got our first project this week, Color Theory. The basic idea is to choose a color, and shoot images using that color as a theme, in analogous, monochromatic, and complimentary color schemes. I chose red. so far, I already have a few that I’m kinda liking, but I need to have about 30 or so photos for the class, so since  I’m going on a trip into Manhattan this weekend with a friend, I’m hoping take a few more photos there…

Here’s one of my favorites so far. Its kinda cheeky, and that’s why I like it. 🙂

umbrella and rainboots

Yep.. those are my knees.

More to come! 🙂

More progress…. its getting there, slowly.I still think the main tree looks more like Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree than the tree in the original photo. And I added some random trees to the background that aren’t really in the original photo as well, bit the pine trees are rather difficult to recreate, so I placed in some oak-y looking ones instead.

I can’t even tell you how many hours I’ve been working on this. I’ve lost count, but its getting up there in the high single digits at this point.

Project 2: Invitations

With the second project for Intro to Graphic Design, we weren’t able to use our own invitation ideas, we ended up having a grab bag, and I ended up with Divorce Party. After doing a little Wikipedia research as to what a Divorce party is, I decided to go with a “death of the marriage” theme, complete with a coffin box for an envelope.

I tried to come up with a few catchphrases that mirrored the theme. I chose the Trajan font for the text, I like how the font looks like the letters etched in a tombstone. I would have lined the box with a red satin or velvet if I had time to go searching though scrap bins at the craft stores near me, but otherwise, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

I realize the images are a little wonky at this resolution. I’ll try to get some better images up here soon.
